Customer Preparation Instructions
For Kitchen Refinishing Projects
It is important that Kitchens Made New be able to have a
standard environment available once we arrive on your property so as to make our
visit as efficient and as tidy as possible.
To provide the smoothest transition from start to finish
we suggest the following:
1. Place sheets or painters plastic drop cloths over your couch, drapes, chairs or other furniture in the rooms that are adjacent to the kitchen and all other areas that you would like to not have to dust or clean. Some sanding dust will escape our best efforts to prevent it, But keep in mind about 75-80% of our sanding is done outside.
2. Empty all cupboards and drawers in the Kitchen.
3. If possible, provide an area in the garage or covered patio for us to lay the finished drawers and doors while they dry.
4. If possible, provide an area in the driveway for us to park one of our trailers that contains our tools.
5. Allow access to electrical outlets of at least 20 amps for our two air compressors.
6. Move any appliances such as refrigerators or other obstacles that may prevent access to cabinet side panels or other areas of cabinetry needed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure that the air conditioning is off during the time we are there, as neither of us wants the dust from sanding the kitchen face frames to be recirculated, which happens when your filters are already full. (The doors and drawers will be sanded outside.)
Upon arrival, we will provide the following:
1. Seal off the Kitchen and/or other areas that require inside sanding with painters plastic to the best of our ability.
2. Place a fan or fans in the kitchen near a window to provide negative airflow which directs what little sanding dust there is to the outside air.
3. Place floor paper and special commercial grade carpet protector plastic on the floors and carpets to protect them from foot traffic in the areas needed.
4. Provide a "Release of Liability" form for customers to sign who were unable for any reason to move the refrigerator or other obstacles so that we may have needed access.
Post checklist for customers after we leave:
1. Check your air conditioner filters and insure they are clean.
2. Next, turn on your air conditioner to trap in its filters most of the remaining dust that might still be floating in the air.
3. If possible, wait a day or two before placing your dishes and other items back on the shelves, so you can clean the shelves and other areas after the air conditioner has removed most of any remaining dust.
4. Try to maintain a fairly controlled temperature, (68-78 degrees), in the newly lacquered areas for the next 2-4 weeks if possible.
